Panoramic View from the outskirts of Tilery.

Description

This is a panoramic picture taken from the outskirts of Tilery, looking towards a skyline dominated by the ICI with the Portrack estate on the right. The picture is constructed of three different photographs and would have been taken in the early eighties. The playing field covers the old Blacketts clay pit ( "The Claggy" )and Tommy Burrs vegetable garden. In the centre distance can be seen the two chimneys of the North Tees Power Station. The rectangular building to the right of these is, we believe, a silo for storing ammonia sulphate. The low hills on the extreme right are the Cleveland Hills. Photograph and information courtesy of Dr Fred Starr.
