The ones who are not identified in the 1st photo are:- 2nd right on cycle Graham Poole, 1st right Colin Jones, I think and centre front again a guess Alan Parr. So the person 2nd left back row has to be John Clark. In the 2nd picture all nnamed are correct. Bob McConnell and Peter Hanson are missing.

Thanks to Bob for completing the info on the 1951 photo. We met near Stockton Town Hall on July 31st prior to setting out on a cycling/youth hostelling tour in southern Sweden. The 3 week trip included ferry from Newcastle to Copenhagen, ferry across to Malmö and then to Stockolm via the south coast and then 2 Baltic ferries to and from Gotland in mid-Baltic. The return route south included much cycling and 2 connecting train journeys. This was long before the days of more sophisticated school holidays organised by specialist travel organisations. As well as wonderful scenery of forests, lakes, varied coastline and a pearl of a capital city the group enjoyed food the like of which was still not so liberally available in ration card UK. The 1953 group also travelled to Sweden via a visit to Copenhagen. Their cycling/hostelling tour included a similar route to Stockholm as the 1951 group. We then moved on to the major university city of Uppsala (where photo taken at the Carl von Linné garden) and gradually westwards to Lesjöfors/Rämmen in Värmland for a 6 day visit. This was partly an exchange as a whole school class of 13 year olds had come from there in May and been hosted by boys and girls from the Richard Hind Schools. They visited Durham, Whitby and had a civic reception. Then they visited London pre the Coronation. The Lesjöfors visit included an international football match with a large crowd and the local brass band to play the national anthems! The local industrialist, a Baron, gave a welcoming speech too. England won as it so happened there were several useful footballers in the touring group. The local Swedish team was of 15 year olds plus the teacher leader. Some readers will recognise that there were some useful footballers in the group! Just one of many highlights in a remarkable tour that led on to Oslo in Norway and the ferry home.
